We had great pleasure working with our client to create the character design for these two characters for the Paper and Packaging Board in the US. We were shortlisted down to 3 Character designers to help create designs for these two characters 1 x Paper Character, 1 x Box character one of which was selected by the client to be the final character for the Brands current advertising campaign.
The creative idea was to help inforce the importance and awareness that paper and card play a significant role in our everyday life, we are surrounded by it and interact with it more than we realize and that paper and card are used in far more day to day situations that we have become oblivious too.
By creating these two characters PPB wanted to engage with their customers in a new way by adding a personality to this these forgotten legends of an ever-increasing digital world.
We went through a number of complicated approval and testing rounds over 4-month period to get our characters just right. Eventually our box character design (even though very close to the final design) was stopped and a slightly different design was selected but our paper character was selected as the final design.
We then set about creating the final 3d models which would be used across all press and broadcast transforming them from our 2d hand drawn designs and putting them them into a real life back plates, which enabled the client to make their final decision on the final render look and feel of the character and which they would eventually additionally animate.
On this occasion the client selected a local US based production company to help them with the broadcast content working with our supplied 3d rigged models final approved paper character.
