To all my creative friends out there I have some important news which I have been asked to share with you from my local MP regarding Grants available for businesses operating out of share or co-working spaces that pay rent.
Unfortunately this still wont apply to everyone out there but it may help a few. I have been in talks with Tom Tugendhat who our local MP to challenge the previous qualification guidelines of this scheme which previously excluded many small creative businesses.
VERY IMPORTANT the scheme closes on the 10/06/2020 so you need to make your application now.
I enclose a copy of the last correspondence I had with Tom regarding this, I hope this may throw a lifeline to maybe a few of you who weren’t aware of this.
(Please note that Tom just covers his local constituency of Tonbridge and Malling but you should certainly check with your local authority in case they are operating the same schemes which I would assume they would be running this scheme across all boroughs).
Good Luck everyone.

Dear Richard
I hope that you continue to keep as safe and well as possible during these difficult times. I appreciate just how difficult the past few weeks have been, both in terms of keeping us safe and ensuring that as many businesses and jobs can be saved during the unprecedented circumstances.Following our discussions along with the ones I have had with the Treasury, a few weeks ago it was announced that funding was secured for a Discretionary Fund scheme, which would be administered by our local councils for those businesses who need additional support during this period. I thought you would be interested in the details so your business could make an application if necessary, or you could pass it on to anyone you know who runs a business locally and might be interested. Grants are awarded up to £10,000 or, in exceptional circumstances, £25,000.
In our area, Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council are inviting submissions until 5pm on 10 June 2020. This does not leave long to make an application so please do so if you are eligible.
For those businesses located in Sevenoaks District, the District Council are inviting submissions until 12 June 2020.
Please let me know if you have any questions, as I am in touch regularly with both Councils about supporting our local businesses.
Best wishes
Tom
