For this project our aim was to demonstrate the benefits of using CGI with hard surface objects. In this example we have taken a luxury pair of Beats Solo headphones to show firstly how CGI works, secondly, how CGI models are flexible to work with and finally, how easy it is to alter the appearance of the 3D model.
In this showcase we will run through the stages that a 3D model goes through in order to create a photorealistic 3D product and the different things you can do with it to create visual effects to complement your marketing campaigns or launches.
For this video, the first few shots were crafted with very close up cameras allowing us to really dial into the detail whilst animating the content inside the camera, suspending the headphones in mid-air with an empty background.
Next we utilised the same model and pulled the centre much further out to showcase the entire product again on a transparent canvas manipulating the object within camera to achieve secondary movement. A key thing to note here is, that at each of these stages, high resolution images can be rendered and utilised for your print or image-based advertising.

In order to create a hyper-real product visualization we make a number of unique render passes, which are image layers containing specific properties, that, when composited together give you a photoreal effect which can be reused further to create a specific aesthetic look without having to reshoot (which would be the case if you were using photography). This is unique to rendering with CGI as you can easily change the lighting effects from inside the 3D software, meaning you don’t need to restage the scene, which would be the case if using photography, and it allows you to adjust elements of the scene or image.
Once the scene is setup it is possible to adjust the texture properties of the product by going back into the 3D software and changing the colour values as you can see.
By using a 3D scene, you are offered a great deal of flexibility. Here we illustrate some examples of how you can replace an empty background with various photographic or graphic backplates.
We achieve this by removing the backgrounds from the photorealistic 3D product renders using an accurate transparent mask allowing composition over any type of background.

Our showcase shows the flexibility of CGI for creating 3D images and 3D animation for your marketing campaigns or product launches, however there are a massive range of other mediums that the 3D assets can be used for.
We have created complete digital toolkits for clients that can be used across broadcast, social and print media. And there is also the opportunity to incorporate them into interactive presentations such as 360 viewers or configurators or immersive applications such as augmented reality or virtual reality.
